Oster BPST02-B Review
I bought this blender for my wife to replace our dying unit. She absolutely loves this thing. There are no fancy button options like you will find on most household blenders. The control is merely a 2-stage on-off switch. It’s spring loaded so you have to hold it to the on position and releasing pressure will let it shut off quick. At first we thought this would be a pain in usage until we saw how fast this blender will pulverize anything you can throw at it. It can reduce the most stubborn solid to liquid in mere seconds.

The shaft broke on the replacement unit as well and only after the 7th or 8th use. This will be going back for a refund. I’ll be closing the book on this product and springing for a unit that can handle frozen strawberries better than this one does (I suspect the frozen strawberries are the culprit here.) I hasten to add that the blender I replaced this with, an old 10 speed Kitchen Aid model, did the job without fail (for years) but it went to Goodwill when I bought this one (which I mistakenly believed was an upgrade). So while I can’t imagine what it is I’m doing wrong, it’s simply not handling what I’m asking of it. And I thought I was being diligent in its use. The general rule of thumb I always used was to not load all the ingredients at once but rather “ease” the ingredients in while blending. Bad luck, bad user, maybe a bit of both. But in the end, the product isn’t as advertised, namely, it does not have an all metal drive. That’s simply an inaccurate description. The pictures I’ve added prove this.

I use it twice a day chopping tough vegetables sometimes running it for two or three minutes. The feet are wider than the non-pro beehive and the motor does not have the high pitch whine of the non-pro model. I wish I had known about the pro model before since the standard ones give out after a few years.

The Oster BPST02 is the Energizer Bunny of Blenders! I have had it for several months and it works flawlessly. I use it several times a day to make all sorts of smoothies and power shakes. I swear this thing could grind bricks if I threw them in. There is absolutely nothing negative to say about this product. Best of all it has only 2 settings: on or pulse – you don’t have to wonder if you want speed setting 1 or 2 or 3. If you want a blender for daily use this is the one you want – it’s made of metal [not wimpy plastic] and will blend whatever you put into it. VERY pleased.

I have purchased several cheap blenders over the years and have had to replace them as the motor burns out or some other feature breaks. I finally decided to buy a “good” blender (ie more costly!). I make a fruit drink every morning for myself and a blended oatmeal drink for my daughter. This blender makes short work of ice cubes, giant pieces of fruit, hot oatmeal and everything else I have thrown at it! It only has two speeds, low and high but I can’t imagine what else you would actually need. I also purchased the blender cups that you can mix in and then just flip them over and take them along. They’re great too! This blender is easy to clean too. The metal ring that supports the blender container has ample room under it to wipe out any spilled contents easily and the rest of the housing just wipes down.
