I purchased this as a Christmas gift for an 11 year old girl in our community. I got her request from our “Angel Tree”. It is true to color and very appealing. I purchased rock salt, vanilla and sugar to go with the gift. She would need the cream and ice when she started to use the ball. I have no idea if it worked well for her as we do not have personal contact with the kids. It would be useful as a game as well as being decorative.

My grandaughter had this marked in a magazine I received in the mail. I love the great colors to choose from and her favorite is, of course, pink. I received it quickly and have not talked to her since she has used it. So I cannot say how the Ice Cream Maker worked for her, but I’m sure she has had a “ball” with it. It is a very cool product.

I bought one of these ice cream balls for two different Grandchildren (one 7 year old and a 12 year old) for Christmas this year and it was the hit of the Season. The children each invited a friend to their house to make the ice cream for the first time. The end product was really delicious – one family added M & M’s to theirs and the other made plain vanilla.

This is a great way to keep the kids involved while making the ice cream. I have a friend who teaches elementary school and has me in with both our ice cream balls every year when covering the letter “i”. The kids LOVE rolling the ball, though we do have to watch after them and make sure they don’t THROW them.

I ordered this for a demonstration of freezing point depression for my chemistry class. The timing is perfect for a 53 minute period with time enough to serve the ice cream and the students getting to eat it before the time is up. The one quart capacity works well for for up to 30 students. The ice cream was smooth and creamy. I suppose it will work well for family picnics and keep the kids busy.

This does a great job! We bought it after our old fashioned wooden barrel ice cream maker died. This freezes the ice cream better than the old one– the key is to freeze the bowl well and cool the mix in the refrigerator until all the ingredients are cold. My only complaint is the size of the bowl– it is not very big at all. It takes me three batches in this one to make what my old make could make in one batch. It says two quarts but it is not nearly that big. Still a great maker and I am pleased overall. We do need a second bowl, though so we can make more than one batch. Would buy it again!

I purchased this product thinking it would be easier than making a trip to the store for a half gallon of ice cream. It took my wife almost seven hours to make the ice cream. One of the recipes that came with the product needed several hours of preparation before the half hour needed in the suprisingly loud machine. My wife and I had to stop watching our television program for over twenty minutes while the ice cream finished. It was more trouble than I thought it would be. I’d rather run to the store. Ice cream was very good though.

This ice cream maker is exactly what it says – easy, fast, and totally automatic. It’s not nearly as loud as some reviewers are complaining — even with it running, I can still hear my upstairs neighbor snoring. Unless you’re a complete moron or can’t follow the directions, you’re only about a half hour from amazingly tasty homemade ice cream at any given moment — as long as you keep the bowl in your freezer for spontaneous dessert-making sessions.

I purchased this machine for a gift. When my son and his family make ice cream they have to put it on a towel and put it in the bedroom with the door shut because this machine is soooo load. They have never been able to get the lid to stay on. When you start the machine the lid just pops off. The ice cream tastes great though. I think the inside part is too tall for the lid to fit properly.

The Cuisinart ICE-30BC is fine, if you don’t expect too much. I had to freeze the gel container a good 24 hours and cool the mixture to near freezing in order to get ice cream that was about the consistency of a Wendy’s Frosty. Unless you have a wealth of freezer space, the convenience of making ice cream with this machine is lost in the planning. The ice cream I made was indeed delicious but not superior enough to store-bought ice cream to justify the extra work.

Cuisinart 1-1/2-Quart Automatic Ice Cream Makers Review
I make Raw Cream Ice Cream twice a week. It works great. It makes 6 cups. I need 2 for parties. Don’t over fill and run till it’s hard and it’s firmer than soft serve. I get 5 cups of cream per gallon of Raw Milk, straight from the mamma cow. I add 6 Raw Free-Range Egg Yokes, a 1/4 cup of Maple Syrup, 2 1/2 tablespoons of Vanilla Extract and 1 tablespoon of Psyllium Husks. It’s so healthy. I consider it medicine for my 3 year boy. I find that it does stick to the bowl some. It’s not a problem unless you put it back in the freezer with ice cream in it. I only do that when I’m leaving soon after making ice cream. It’s not totally quiet, but what do you expect from a motor. It’s quieter than the old salt and ice type.

While I love the ice cream this machine makes, the motor has a lot of problems. On only its second use, the motor hummed and wouldn’t start for several minutes. It did this consistently over the next year but would start up after 5 or 10 minutes. However, now the motor just stops halfway through the process because it’s overheating too quickly. Maybe I just got a lemon, but this is a pretty poor motor.

I did use this quite a bit over the summer but not so much when it got cold outside. There are not a ton of recipes for it and hard to find online. It doesn’t freeze the ice cream very much so we have been putting ours in freezer for couple of hours before eating. I bought it with credit card rewards so I am not completely disappointed. But it didn’t turn out to be everything I had hoped for. I am afraid I am bored with it already after just 3 months. You also have to be very careful not to overfill it. The recipes in the book seem to be too much to fit. I also felt that there was not enough variety in the cookbook. Too many repeats. Basically just chocolate, strawberry and vanilla.

I would have like to know ahead of time that there was a freezing element in the machine that has to be kept in the refrigerator before use. It’s not a big inconvenience, but I thought all I’d have to do is just insert the ingredients and they would be frozen as the machine worked its magic. I also thought the machine would automatically increase the volume of the ingredients for a result similar to the thick, rich, creamy ice cream sold by street vendors. I guess that was naive of me since I’m purposely not using heavy cream. Live and learn. I’ll just have to keep experimenting until I get the healthful result I’m looking for. Other than the above, I find no fault in this product.
